My 6 Rules For Success
Getting to the top and staying there are two different jobs. These are the 6 rules I've refined over years of building — three for the climb, three for holding the position.
You have to do what it takes to stay on top. These are my 6 rules for getting there — and staying there.
What does it mean to do what it takes to stay on top?
Getting to the top is one job. Staying there is a different one. It asks for a different mindset, a different strategy, and a level of dedication most people underestimate.
That's where these 6 rules come in. They're what set me apart in my industry, and I'm going to walk through them so you can apply the same thinking in yours.
Most people struggle to define the steps that get them to the top, never mind holding the position once they arrive. I've spent years refining my approach — not just to climb in competitive spaces, but to stay at the front of them.
Out of all the lessons, mistakes and wins, a framework emerged. Three keys for getting there, three pillars for staying there. Follow it with patience and it builds toward long-term growth and stability.
Getting to the top: 6 rules for success (part 1)
1. Get your message out there
Visibility comes first. Nobody buys into a vision, product or service they've never heard of.
This is where marketing, branding and storytelling earn their keep. Social media, affiliate marketing, PR, word of mouth — test all of it, and find out what actually lands with your audience.
There's no quick fix here. It's trial and error, and it takes time. When I started, I tried everything from paid advertising to guerrilla marketing. Some of it worked. Plenty of it didn't.
The key is to stay adaptable, look hard at the results, and pivot when the numbers tell you to.
2. Stay close to your potential client or customer
"Build it and they will come" doesn't survive contact with modern business. "Build it for them and they will come" — that's the version that works. Success comes from knowing your audience deeply: their pain points, what they want, what they expect.
When we were developing TradeLocker and FunderPro, my team and I spoke with hundreds of traders to make sure the tools solved their actual problems. That closeness builds trust, keeps you relevant, and makes you a partner rather than just another provider.
The result? Products people adopt because they want to, not because you pushed them.
3. Keep showing value
Value isn't just price. Affordability matters, but what you offer has to solve specific problems and beat expectations in ways your competitors don't.
Value takes many shapes — reliable support, honest guidance, perks nobody else offers. If you did rule two properly, you already know what your audience cares about most, so you can shape your offer around it.
Always show them how you're solving their problems better or faster than anyone else.

4. Out-network everyone
Nobody succeeds alone. To keep your edge, keep expanding and feeding your network. Relationships open doors — new opportunities, new partnerships, new markets.
Go to the events. Join the industry groups. Stay active wherever your audience and your peers actually spend their time.
5. Stay focused
Focus, for me, means staying inside my own products instead of drifting above them. I use FunderPro and TradesAI every day, so I always know what's needed next.
The moment you stop being your own user, you start guessing. And guessing is how the people behind you catch up.
6. Keep showing value
Yes, this one appears twice — deliberately. Delivering value isn't a one-off effort; it's a permanent commitment. Stay innovative, anticipate what your customers will need next, and keep telling them how you're improving their lives or their businesses.
Never stop solving their problems. Never stop surprising them with improvements they didn't ask for but immediately appreciate.
The importance of time and persistence
Success is not an overnight phenomenon. Every step — getting your message out, staying close to your customer, showing value — takes time, effort and constant iteration. The "getting your message out" phase is usually the longest, and it's full of experiments and setbacks.
It demands persistence, and the willingness to keep refining your approach based on what works and what doesn't.
Staying on top is no different. Out-networking your competitors, using your own product daily, and continuing to prove your value all demand relentless focus. These aren't boxes to tick. They're habits you build into your daily operations until they stop feeling optional.
Final thoughts
These 6 rules form a cycle — the same principles carry you up and keep you there. Adaptability, customer focus, and value-driven solutions, all backed by time and patience.
Whether you're just starting out or already at the peak, staying grounded in these principles gives your hard-earned success the best chance to last.
